Hailed
as the first truly organic lubricant
on the market, Sensua organics comes
in three varieties: original (unflavored),
strawberry, and raspberry. All three
varieties are water-based, and I decided
to put them all through some pretty
rigorous testing.
Ingredients:
Certified organic aloe vera
Certified deionized water
Certified organic grapefruit extract
Vitamin E
Guar gum
Flavored Lubes also contained: Certified
organic raspberry or strawberry flavoring
and fragrance
Packaging and Appearance:
All three bottles were attractive
to look at, and more importantly,
easy to hold and open when the going
got slippery. The labeling was clear
and precise, and I also liked the
fact that these listed a use by date
and a batch number. Unlike many lubes,
these come in darkened bottles, which
I thought made them really attractive.
This also meant that if unintentionally
exposed to sunlight the ingredients
were less likely to break down.
If you're familiar with lubes you'll
likely be expecting a clear or opaque
liquid/gel, and while the unflavored
lube was opaque in color, the flavored
ones weren't. The strawberry has a
distinct pink tinge to it and the
raspberry a mulberry red color. Neither
color was off putting, but I thought
it worth mentioning in this review.
Texture and Smoothness
None of the four lubes were gooey
in texture. Instead, all went on smoothly
and held up to some rigorous testing
conditions, which I'll explain later.
These can pretty close to feeling
like saliva as I applied them, and
had almost a gel like consistency.
Taste & Smell Test:
Original = Despite claims of being
tasteless, this lube did have a distinct
taste and a slight aftertaste. Its
taste was similar to that of the back
of a postage stamp. [No not the self
adhesive ones, the ones you lick with
your tongue] Somewhat surprisingly
though it had no smell at all.
Strawberry = This had a definite odor
of strawberries that had reached the
point of ripeness and were about to
turn. For my tastes it was a little
too sweet. But I did love the smell
it left me with afterwards. It was
strong, sweet, and yet not overpowering.
Raspberry = This turned out to be
my personal favorite. This lube tasted
and smelled like real raspberries.
It tasted sweet at first then left
that bittersweet aftertaste in your
mouth, that makes you want to dip
back in again.
Stain Test:
Passed with flying colors. No stain
after rubbing in and laundering on
satin or cotton.
Solo Flight Test:
As these are water-based lubes, there
wasn't a toy they weren't suitable
for use. After picking my weapon of
choice, and over the course of a week,
I tried all 3 varieties. I have to
say a little of each of these lubes
goes a long way. The flavored lubes
also left a really nice smell after
use, and I personally liked that aspect
of those lubes. I found all of them
to be especially good with glass toys
as well as the silicone toys, making
things slippery when needed and not
drying out as fast as some lubes I've
encountered over the years.
Duel Flight test:
My trusty lab assistant donned his
own white shirt and volunteered to
help me out here. We tried all three
lubes with and without toys and although
they had the desired slippery effect,
Hubby found the smell of the flavored
lubes a little sweet for his taste
and nose. He did say they were better
than many we have tried though, so
for him it was a mixed bag. All three
varieties held up well, even during
prolonged sessions, and definitely
made things go more smoothly.
Conclusion:
A little goes a long way and the fact
that they are water-based means they
are condom and toy compatible. Nowadays
I tend to use these lubes for solo/toy
play as they are a little on the sweet
smelling side for hubbies tastes.
The fact that these lubes contain
no chemicals at all is a definite
plus, and if you were looking for
an alternative this might just be
the answer you've been looking for.
Another plus these lubes offer, is
for people with sensitive skin. Many
women complain that lubes irritate
their skin. As these contain no chemicals
there is less chance of irritation,
although no guarantee of course.
