Probe is a water based lubricant that comes
in two varieties: Silky Light or Thick and
Rich
Ingredients:
Purified Water
Vegetable Glycerin
Polyethylene Oxide
Grapefruit seed extract
Packaging
and Appearance:
Both of the bottles are packaged in attractive
black bottles and feature a flip top lid.
Both types of lube are transparent in color.
Texture
and Smoothness
The first thing I noticed with both of these
lubes was the mozzarella cheese like quality
of them. Let me explain that statement a little
more clearly. Have you ever taken a cheese
topped pizza and tried to separate a slice
from the base only to be confronted with strings
of cheese that refuse to be separated from
the base? This lube has that quality and even
before you begin trying to apply it, you're
gonna likely get messy.
That
said once you manage to separate it from the
bottle it feels really good almost like real
saliva and I personally liked the feel of
it. As the name suggests the silky lube was
lighter in texture and was more easily absorbed
than the heavier rich formula.
Taste
& Smell Test:
Neither formulas of this lube had a taste
or after taste and held some real promise
as an oral lube because of this.
Stain
Test:
Passed with flying colors. No stain after
rubbing in and laundering on satin or cotton.
Solo
Flight Test:
I loved this lube for solo play, even if it
was a little messy at times. For me the rich
formula was the better of the two as it just
had a richer consistency and when it came
to toy play I liked that quality better. Both
varieties, however, where long lasting and
when they did dry out all it took to reactivate
them was a small spray of water from my trusty
plant mister that I keep on my bedside table
for the purpose. As these are both water based
they can be safely used with all toy materials
as well as condoms.
The
only minus in solo play was that these were
messy to apply because of the mozzarella cheese/stringy
factor[ see texture and smoothness] They were
also a little harder to clean up than some
of the other water based lubes I cleaned up,
but overall I really liked the different consistency
these offered.
Dual
Flight Test:
Hubby and I tried these over the course of
a week and we found these were great for oral
sex, because they really were odorless and
tasteless. The Rich and Creamy formula was
also great for anal sex because of it's thicker
consistency -)) One thing we did discover
was if you drop any of this on anything other
than a carpeted floor make sure you clean
it up straight away. We managed to spill some
on the linoleum floor in our kitchen and didn't
notice until my foot hit it taking me half
way across the room as it did. This stuff
really is that slippery, so be careful.
We
also tried these in the shower, given the
fact that I discovered clean up was not always
as easy as with other water based lubes I've
tried, I figured this might add a new dimension
to water play. It certainly did that, but
not in the way we expected. It held up surprisingly
well under water as long as we used no soap,
but man did it make the shower tray slippery.
Conclusion:
Personally, I like Probe. While it can be
one of the messier lubes to apply for the
reasons stated above, it does feel good and
I don't mind a bit of mess once in a while.
We found it good for oral sex because of both
its consistency as well as it having no taste
or smell that some lubes have. The rich formula
was ideal for anal sex again because of its
consistency.
As
long as you have no objections to a little
messiness when it comes to sex, Probe is actually
a really good all round lube. Just be careful
if you drop it on the floor as you may find
yourself creating a new set of lyrics to the
song, "Slip Sliding Away."
